Nita Sinaga - Komposition

Nita Sinaga  |  Composer  |  USA / Indonesia

The work “Cerca” by composer Nita Sinaga was recognised at the 2026 ASTOR PIAZZOLLA International Competition and will now receive its world premiere at our “Piazzolla Reloaded” festival in the Philharmonie Berlin. Nita Sinaga herself writes the following about her composition:

»Cerca« (2025) was written for the Astor Piazzolla International Competition. It is inspired by the music of Astor Piazzolla and the dramatic, passionate character of tango. The title, meaning “near” or “close,” suggests a sense of being close to love or something deeply desired. The bandoneon carries the main melodic voice, with an expressive, almost yearning quality. The piece opens and closes with a steady, driving pulse that conveys intensity and anticipation. In the middle section, the music becomes more lyrical and reflective, with a yearning quality that blends a sense of romance and sadness. The piece reflects a sense of knowing that something deeply desired is within reach. (Nita Sinaga)
