Pasquale Lancuba – Bandoneon

Pasquale Lancuba   |  Bandoneon  |  Germany

Pasquale Lancuba first learnt to play the accordion, before switching to the bandoneon, which he studied under Gianni Iorio, at the ‘A. Casella’ Conservatoire in L’Aquila. He is the bandoneonist of the jazz ensemble “Trio La Sombra”, which specialises in original compositions, and founded the “Balanceo Quartet”, which, alongside its jazz repertoire, explores the works of Astor Piazzolla. Since 2021, he has been the solo bandoneonist of the “Orchester típica Lo Que Vendrá” and has thus firmly established himself on the contemporary tango and jazz scene.

Lancuba has received numerous awards, including first prize in the “World Music Senior” category at the 2022 “Città di Castelfidardo” International Competition. In March 2026, he was honoured with the Berlin Special Prize at the “Astor Piazzolla International Competition”. He has thrilled audiences across Europe and in Lebanon with both solo and ensemble performances. In addition to numerous collaborative projects, he presents a solo bandoneon programme entitled “Profumo Argentino”, through which he expresses his artistic identity and his connection to the rich traditions of his instrument.
